Audition for JLO

Juneau Lyric Opera announced auditions for Stephen Sondheim’s “Putting It Together” for their Fall 2016 production, directed by William Conrow.

Auditions are at 6 p.m. Friday, June 24, and 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Holy Trinity Church in the library, located to the right of the main entrance. The address is 325 Gold Street

When you sign up for your audition time we will provide you with an electronic copy of the sheet music for the part you are auditioning for. Please dress appropriately for dancing and movement. Everyone will be expected to demonstrate their ability to party like it’s “1999.”

Roles include: the wife, singing “Getting Married Today;” the husband, singing “Sorry-Grateful;” the young woman, singing “The Miller’s Son;” the young man, singing “Marry Me A Little;” and the host, signing “You Could Drive a Person Crazy.”

There are also three female and two male dancing, non singing roles; dancers must be over 18. The dancers will be on stage constantly interacting with the singers throughout the two-hour production.

If you are unable to prepare the song listed above, please choose a minimum of 36 bars of a similar song for the audition. Please bring a copy of the sheet music for the pianist.
