The Bartlett Regional Hospital Foundation’s annual Black & White Gala and Fundraiser will raise funds for psychiatric telemedicine equipment the hospital needs.
This year’s event coincides with the conclusion of Mental Health Awareness Week and will include dining, live music, silent and live auctions, taking place on Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall from 5:30-11 p.m.
The new equipment will increase psychiatric coverage at Bartlett Regional Hospital to 24 hours a day, every day of the week for patients on the Mental Health Unit, Rainforest Recovery Center and the Emergency Department. Having 24/7 access to psychiatric coverage closes a gap within psychiatric care and brings additional resource to the hospital’s behavioral care staff and Juneau’s community hospital.
In year’s past, the Gala has helped raise funds for much needed hospital beds, special training for nurses who treat rape victims and last year, the creation of a program for the distribution of baby boxes to every newborn born at the hospital to promote safe sleep. Those involved with the event are hopeful the community will attend and help raise funds for another needed resource at our regional hospital.
