KETCHIKAN — Sign up to learn how to harvest cedar bark for weaving with instructor Gloria Burns on three separate days, two of them field days, one of them an in class day.
Students will learn to identify red and yellow cedar trees and to harvest cedar bark on the field days; please come prepared for a full day outdoors in the forest. On the classroom day, students will treat and process raw materials to prepare them for weaving. This class is a core requirement for a Certificate of Merit in weaving.
The class is Saturday, May 28 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Sunday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Sunday is the classroom day. Sign up by May 13 to get a registration discount.
