The public is invited to join labor union members, families and friends for a local celebration of Labor Day at Sandy Beach from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4.
The Juneau Labor Council, which represents labor organizations in Juneau, is providing free food, music and events at the picnic. Fleet Street will play music, the League of Women Voters will be on hand to register voters, Juneau Education Association will provide free books for children and Annie Kaill’s Gallery will run kid-friendly events.
JLC President Nadine Lefebvre said the event is free and open to anyone. It is not a potluck style event, so attendees are not asked to bring any food to share. Burgers, hot dogs, smoked ribs from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, chips and beverages will be provided. JLC will give away gift cards at the picnic and all the candidates for the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly will attend to meet and chat with community members.
