If you hear gun fire on Gastineau Channel on April 18, don’t be alarmed – it’s only Coast Guard training.
Coast Guard Station Juneau is scheduled to hold an underway firing of blank 7.62mm ammunition from a mounted automatic weapon and LA51 warning device munitions from a shotgun as part of their training schedule. This is for annual certification and recertification of crewmembers. The training will happen at the Gastineau Channel in the vicinity of Dupont Dock between 8 a.m.-noon.
