Popular jazz pianist, teacher and raconteur Barney McClure will return to Juneau to lead local singers in an evening of cabaret Friday, Oct. 16 at the JACC at 7:30 p.m.
The cabaret performance concludes a five-day workshop in which local singers are taught the fundamentals of cabaret, including choosing the right material, song interpretation, microphone technique and stage presence.
Originally from Port Townsend, McClure has performed with many of the jazz greats in a career that has taken him across Europe, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Canada, the U.S.
Come to the Cabaret! is a benefit for the 30th annual Juneau Jazz & Classics Festival May 6-21. Tickets are $20 at the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council, Hearthside Books and online at www.jazzandclassics.org.
