Community Rememberance Gathering for those passed

In recognition of November being National Hospice Month, the community of Juneau has an opportunity to pay tribute to loved ones who have passed away. Hospice & Home Care of Juneau, a division of Catholic Community Service, will host its annual Community Remembrance Gathering on Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. at the Bridge Adult Day Center, 1803 Glacier Highway, where there is ample parking.

The gathering is open and free of charge for all in Juneau who have lost special people in recent or past years. Those who are not bereaved but want to support others who are grieving are also welcome to attend this event. Many people who attended in the past have said that the mutual support of bereaved others was meaningful to them, particularly at the start of the holiday season.

The one-hour memorialization includes a candle lighting ceremony whereby one candle is lit for each person who has passed away. There will also be readings of memories of those passed. For more information, contact the Hospice & Home Care of Juneau Bereavement Coordinator at 463-6106.
