The Community Advisory Boards (CABs) for Holland America Line and Princess Cruises are looking to award grants in Alaska and Canada, and six communities are vying for the grants.

Nonprofit organizations from Fairbanks, Juneau, Ketchikan, Seward, Sitka and the Yukon have until March 15 to apply for the grants. The CABs, which include local civic and business leaders who advise the two cruise line companies, distribute grants twice a year to projects that will benefit the community as a whole.

CABs will not award grants over $2,000 in an attempt to help as many organizations as possible. Funding requests for special projects, specific needs or community events are preferred over larger capital projects or general expense. The grants will be awarded in late spring.

The applications are to be turned in via email to Allison Hovanec at AHovanec@HAgroup.com or by mail to Holland America Line & Princess Cruises, 745 W. Fourth Avenue, Suite 100, Anchorage, AK 99501. Those with more questions should contact Hovanec either via email or at 264-8043.
