The Pelican Chamber of Commerce recently shared information about the winter ferry schedule to Pelican in the hopes of spurring ridership during the coming months. Like many coastal towns in Southeast, Pelican is facing economic issues stemming from cutbacks to the Alaska Marine Highway System.
Passengers can ride the ferry round-trip to Pelican from Juneau in one day on the following dates: Dec. 15, Jan. 11, March 8, and April 4. All sailings depart Auke Bay at 7 a.m. and arrive back at 10:30 p.m. There is a two-hour lay over in Pelican. For more information visit http://www.dot.state.ak.us/amhs/
