Community Schools has scheduled two learn-to-flycast work workshops in March and April. They will be taught by Tony Soltys, President of the Raincountry Flyfishers, who has taught these classes annually since 1994. Workshops will be paced for beginners and require no prior experience. Emphasis will be on casting techniques useful for fishing local waters. He’ll do in-depth lessons on how to safely cast weighted flies, often used locally, focusing on avoiding dangerous “chuck and duck” casts.
Contact Suzanne Ainsworth with Community Schools at 523-1761 to register. Cost is $25. The first session will be held March 15 and 17, followed by another session April 5 and 7. Each class will be taught over two evenings from 7-9 p.m., indoors.
