Flying Lions to hold diabetes fundraiser at McGivney’s

On Nov. 7, the Mendenhall Flying Lions Club will hold its 20th annual barbecue at McGivney’s Sports Bar & Grill to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

The barbecue is from 12-5 p.m. or until food runs out. It will feature smoked pork ribs, cole slaw and beans for $15 per plate and $40 per rack donation. Additionally, the barbecue will have an Alaskan Brewing Co. selection. Food is dine in or take out.

Funds raised helps send kids from Southeast to diabetes camp, conduct health fairs and provide diabetes awareness and training materials throughout Southeast.

In a press release, the Lions stated they have raised over $154,000 total in the previous 19 years.

The Flying Lions would like to thank the supporters of the fundraiser: McGivney’s Sports Bar & Grill, Randy’s Rib Shack, Alaskan Brewing Company, Super Bear and Food Services of America.
