Friends of the Juneau-Douglas City Museum thanks community for support

The Board of the Friends of the Juneau-Douglas City Museum has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for our mission during the recent June 14, 2017 city budget crisis. Your calls and email to the Assembly, your emails to the newspaper, and your attendance at the Assembly Finance Committee public hearing certainly confirmed the value of the City Museum. It made all the difference.

A most grateful thank-you goes out to the following organizations: Alaska Historical Society, Discovery Southeast, Friends of the State Libraries, Archives &Museums, Gastineau Channel Historical Society, Historic Resources Advisory Committee, Juneau-Douglas City Museum Volunteers, Museums Alaska, The Empty Chair Committee, The Mendenhall Flying Lions and Members of the Friends of the Juneau-Douglas City Museum.

In addition, we greatly appreciate those individuals who made their support of the museum’s mission known by calling, writing, or attending the Assembly Finance Committee Meeting. Because of your support, the public trust placed in your museum to preserve our local art and history stands firm. Your city museum will continue to welcome guests and honor Juneau’s culture for the foreseeable future.

Board of Directors, Friends of the Juneau-Douglas City Museum — Joel Probst, President; Mike Blackwell, Vice President; Katrina Woolford, Treasurer; Don Harris; Kathryn Cohen; Marcia Phillips and Jean McBrien.
