The Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation reopened the application period for the Snowmobile Trails Grant Program, which provides competitive and reimbursable matching grants for developing and maintaining public snowmobile trails and related facilities for safety, education and trail signing projects.
Applications must be received by August 16, 2016. To submit an application, go to dnr.alaska.gov/parks/grants/snowmotr.htm.
Unlike previous years, the program will not receive funding from 2017 snowmobile registration fees. However, the program has received approval to spend snowmobile registration fees collected through fiscal year 2016.
Anyone who previously submitted a grant application for the 2017 grant cycle is not required to resubmit the application. However, prior applicants are encouraged to contact trails program coordinator Darcy Harris at (907) 269-8699 or darcy.harris@alaska.gov to ensure that their applications were properly submitted and received.
