Grocery store customers donate to local food bank

Thousands of dollars and thousands of pounds of food.

Foodland IGA and Super Bear IGA customers donated more than $5,600 and thousands of pounds of food to Southeast Alaska Food Bank.

Every transaction Super Bear and Foodland cashiers are asking customers if they would like to round up their change for charity. In addition to the monetary donation, 25,000 pounds of donation bags purchased at the stores.

Every month, Super Bear and Foodland will be asking customers to “ round-up” for charity. In February, they will be rounding up for Juneau Animal Rescue, and then, the United Way in March.
