Health insurance enrollment day in Sitka

SEARHC and Sitka Tribe of Alaska host Health Insurance Enrollment Day

SITKA—The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) and the Sitka Tribe of Alaska (STA) will co-host a Health Insurance Enrollment Day on Friday, April 29 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Social Services Building at 110 American Street.

SEARHC Outreach & Enrollment Specialist Susan Briles will be on hand to discuss Medicaid eligibility and the Tribally Sponsored Health Insurance Program (T-SHIP) and to assist attendees with enrollment in either program.

Obtaining health insurance coverage through Medicaid and T-SHIP enables tribal members to receive medical services that are not fully covered by Indian Health Services (IHS) and increases healthcare options. Additional benefits include dental and vision coverage, access to more medications, substance abuse treatment, and other services.

STA members interested in discussing their options are encouraged to contact Douglas Bartels at 747-7293 to schedule a one-on-one appointment during the Health Insurance Enrollment Day on April 29.

SEARHC is a Certified Application Counselor agency offering free assistance to all Southeast residents and welcomes inquiries from both Alaska Native and non-Native community members. The SEARHC Outreach & Enrollment team can be reached at 966-8662 or 966-8883.
