Juneau-Douglas High School graduate Ciera Kelly has done a little bit of everything in her first two years at Washington State University, and she’s seeing the benefits of her hard work.
Kelly has earned five scholarships this year to date, including one just recently from the Supreme Emblem of the USA organization. Kelly, who is a swimmer and a recipient of the President’s Award for her 4.0 GPA, has now earned the scholarship for the second year in a row.
The Supreme Emblem of the USA is the female auxiliary of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and has existed since World War I. It strives to support education across the country with its scholarship program, which has existed since 1934.
This fall, Kelly will begin working as the peer academic counselor for her teammates in the pool, mentoring incoming freshmen on time management, study habits and other tips to succeed academically. She will also serve as an academic tutor.
