The Juneau-Douglas High School Theatre program has won the American High School Theatre Festival Award for the second time this year. The first time was in 2012.
The award for receiving the honor is a chance to perform four times at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland.
To receive the award, theatre programs have to be nominated by someone either on the committee or affiliated with a college program, Moore said.
“We were nominated every year since we went,” Moore said, but she didn’t complete the process the rest of the years because of the money necessary to get to Scotland. Up to fifty groups from around the country go, she said.
“It’s really a big deal,” Moore said. They’ll be heading to Edinburgh in 2017, she said.
