The Juneau Family Health and Birth Center would like to thank everyone who participated in our Labor Day weekend Fun Run on Saturday, Sept. 3. We had 35 runners and walkers join us for either a leisurely one mile (which turned out to be 1.43 miles — sorry!) walk or an invigorating five mile run up Salmon Creek Hill to the powerhouse and back. Thanks to Southeast Road Runners for sponsorship of this race, especially Shawn Miller and his dexterity with collecting times at the finish line; to birth center staff for making signs to celebrate the various stages of labor displayed along the way and to our board and volunteers for cheering participants on. All proceeds from the Labor Day Fun Run will be dedicated to supporting the birth center’s various community programs, including free prenatal care for those in need. We look forward to another Fun Run over Labor Day weekend in 2017 — it’s a great way to prepare for the Klondike Road Relay!
