Juneau Jazz and Classics celebrates 30th season

Juneau Jazz and Classics kicks off its 30th season on Friday, May 6, for two weeks of the nation’s best jazz, blues, and classical artists playing Alaska’s capital city.

“It has been a joy to welcome this quality and diversity of musical talent to Juneau for three decades, and every year it just gets better,” said Linda Rosenthal, Jazz and Classics’ artistic and executive director. “Our 30th season features a line-up of stellar performers including Mavis Staples, Carolyn Wonderland, Béla Fleck, the ‘President’s Own’ Marine Band Jazz Combo, the Vega Quartet, Katie Thiroux, Third Coast Percussion, the Rad Trads, and more.”

With performances that spill out from the concert halls to the university campus, local coffee shops and taverns, and this year into the great outdoors, Jazz and Classics continues its mission of reaching out to the broader community, with instructional workshops, programs in the schools, free lunchtime brown bag concerts, and other family-friendly programs for people of all ages and economic backgrounds.

The full schedule is available at www.jazzandclassics.com. For more information contact Reggie Schapp at reggie@jazzandclassics.org or 463-3378.
