Russ Stevens of Juneau struck gold in Fairbanks.
Stevens won four gold medals last Sunday at the Alaska International Senior Games.
Stevens placed first in the 50-54 age group in shot put, with a distance of 35 feet and four inches; standing long jump with a distance of 6 feet and 10.6 inches; 50-meter dash with a time of 6.98 seconds; and a record-setting 100-meter dash with a time of 12.06 seconds.
The games, typically held annually, are the official state qualifier for the National Senior Games. Stevens qualified to represent Alaska in the National Senior Games, which are scheduled to be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in May 2022.
