Chasina Klein, a Ketchikan graduating senior, is one of 22 winners in the state of the BP Principals Scholarship.
The scholarship, which is a partnership between BP Alaska and the Alaska Principals Foundation (APF), is worth $4,000. Every principal in Alaska nominates one graduating senior who has excelled in school and in the community for the scholarship, and the APF Board of Directors selects the winners.
Since the program began in 1985, BP Alaska has awarded more than $3.8 million to 850 Alaska students.
Juneau graduate earns academic honors at college
Emme MacDonald, a graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School, made the dean’s list this semester at the University of New England, the university announced this week.
Being on that list means that MacDonald earned a GPA of more than 3.3 out of a possible 4.0 during the spring semester. MacDonald is listed on the university’s rugby roster as well. The University of New England is the largest private university in Maine, and has campuses in Maine and in Morocco.
