The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is revving up its 2016 class season. The first class it will offer is an Alaskans Afield class, “Intro to Black Bear Hunting,” which runs from 6-9 p.m. Friday, March 25 and from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26.
Students will learn how to plan a hunt and what gear to bring, where to go, hands-on field dressing, skinning and hide prep, and tips and tricks from the experts – all the basics they need to become ethical and successful bear hunters.
The black bear hunting class costs $20; students must register ahead of time. Go to alaskansafield.adfg.alaska.gov and click on the “Juneau” tab. Students must be at least 10 years old; one student under 18 can attend for free with each paying adult. Scholarships available. Call Kristen Romanoff at 465-8547 with questions.
