In an effort to promote bicyclist safety, the Juneau Police Department will be holding a special bike ride the evening of the Independence Day fireworks occurring on July 3. What makes it so special? Bicyclists are asked to put lights on their bikes and wear highly visibility clothing, with a prize going to the most visible rider.
At 11 p.m., JPD officers will lead the group of participating cyclists from Marine Park through the downtown district, a short distance on Egan Drive with a turn around near the Juneau-Douglas Bridge and then back to Marine Park in time for the fireworks.
All traffics laws will be followed and the streets will remain open to vehicles during this ride.
