Private First Class Devin Womack, 22, son of Ed and Kelly Mercer of Juneau and Todd and Angela Womack of Fairbanks graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in California on Feb. 12. Womack is a 2012 graduate of Thunder Mountain High School.
PFC Womack successfully completed 13 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.
PFC Womack also received instructions on the Marine Corps’ core values — honor, courage and commitment, and what the words mean in guiding personal and professional conduct. PFC Womack and his fellow recruits of Platoon 1031 ended the training phase with the Crucible, a 54-hour team effort and problem solving evolution.
Following ten days in Arizona on leave he reported to Camp Pendleton for 3 weeks of combat training. He will begin his Military Occupation Specialty School training at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida.
