CCF/R is looking to have the residents of the Lynn Canal district join the fire department as volunteers. There will be an open house on Aug. 20 at the fire house from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. where current volunteers will answer questions from the public on what it means to serve, and will also provide hotdogs and hamburgers.
There are only six volunteers that currently are assigned to the Lynn Canal fire district and their numbers will be declining due to personnel leaving.
To apply to be a volunteer, applications are available at CCFR headquarters at 820 Glacier Ave., during normal business hours or download the application at Juneau.org/CCFR.
