Mendenhall Glacier receives TripAdvisor certificate

The Mendenhall Glacier recently received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. The achievement celebrates hospitality businesses and destination sites that have earned great traveler reviews on TripAdvisor over the past year.

The Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center is among the most popular attractions for visitors in Alaska’s capital city. Its recreation area provides panoramic views of Mendenhall Glacier from trails, viewing platforms, walkways, the lake and the visitor center itself, which includes educational exhibits and a film overviewing the region.

“Last year 550,000 visitors and residents enjoyed the Visitor Center and the nearby trails,” said Visitor Center Director John Neary, and “even more came to the Recreation Area as a whole”.

“The TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence honors hospitality businesses that have consistently received strong praise and ratings from travelers,” said Heather Leisman, TripAdvisor’s vice president of industry marketing.

Leisman said in order to qualify, a business “must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.”

The Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center site has a rating of 4.9.

“We are proud to be consistently ranked among the best destinations in Alaska,” Neary said.
