Nominate Juneau Citizen of the Year

The Juneau Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2016 Juneau Citizen of the Year award until the close of business on Friday, Sept. 23.

Since 1977, the Juneau Chamber of Commerce has been honoring Juneau residents for their outstanding service to the community with the Juneau Citizen of the Year award. This year, the recipient of the award will be announced at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet on Friday, Oct. 14 at Centennial Hall.

The nominations for this award come from the community. If you know someone who you feel deserves the honor of Juneau Citizen of the Year, this is your opportunity to be heard.

You can go to the Juneau Chamber of Commerce website JuneauChamber.com and download the nomination forms. Complete the form or write a letter providing the same information, along with supporting news articles, letters of support from other people or other related information. Email or send the nomination forms to Craig Dahl, Executive Director of the Juneau Chamber of Commerce.

The general criteria used for selection of the Citizen of the Year include:

1. Personal involvement in events, organizations or initiatives that have had a significant impact on the community of Juneau. Emphasis should be placed on contributions for the calendar years 2015 and 2016.

2. Personal involvement in events, organizations or initiatives that have had a significant impact on the community of Juneau prior to 2015.

3. Service to the business community that involves the nominee’s profession or otherwise related to the source of their livelihood (an example would be a doctor who serves on a medical board).

4. Other actions by the nominee that make their commitment to Juneau stand out as deserving to be considered for Citizen of the Year

5. If you are nominating the individual for Lifetime Achievement then address these same subjects but with a view of service over a period of ten (10) years or more.
