Nominations are open for the 2017 Governor’s Awards for the Arts and Humanities. These awards are an annual partnership between the Alaska Humanities Forum, the Alaska State Council on the Arts, the Alaska Arts and Culture Foundation and the Office of the Governor to recognize and honor noteworthy contributions to the arts and humanities in Alaska.
Nominations from the public for individuals, organizations or institutions that have made a significant contribution to the arts and humanities in six categories are the Alaska Studies Educator of the Year, Individual Artist, Distinguished Service to the Humanities (3 given), Arts Education, Alaska Native Arts and Business Leadership in the Arts.
Current ASCA or Forum Council / Board members, staff or prior Award recipients are not eligible.
Award recipients will be selected by the Alaska Humanities Forum, the Alaska State Council on the Arts and the Office of the Governor, based on nominees submitted by the public. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 15. Recipients will be recognized and celebrated at the Governor’s Awards for the Arts and Humanities ceremony in Juneau on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017.
