If you have a wild survival story or an area of expertise about how to weather a disastrous event, the city wants you to share your advice.
The 2017 Juneau Safety and Preparedness Expo is scheduled for Sept. 15-16, aiming to prepare Juneauites for disasters of all shapes and sizes. This year’s event is themed “Ready or Not, Don’t Get Caught!,” is free and will be held in Centennial Hall.
Last year, about 70 presenters shared their experiences and expertise. Michelle Brown, the programs grant coordinator for the City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Management Team, said the best presenters are those who engage the audience.
“We don’t want people to just hand out fliers of information,” Brown said in a release. “We want people behind the booths and tables to come up with activities or games that really engage the public on a safety or preparedness topic.”
