Southeast Alaska Independent Living will honor two disability-rights advocates: Tim Huber and Lynn Marvel.
Huber will receive the SAIL Consumer Advocate of the Year award. He has spent his time in Haines advocating for access and serving as a role model for others with disabilities through his work with several local farms and the Division of Motor Vehicles.
Marvel will receive the SAIL Community Advocate of the Year award. With more than three decades of experience in the field of special education, Marvel has spent the last 21 years in the Juneau School District as both a special education teacher and in administration supporting special education teachers and their students. Her passion for her work has inspired countless students to achieve their educational and vocational goals through quality education and support.
Both Huber and Marvel will be formally recognized at SAIL’s annual fall dinner and auction on Oct. 8 at Centennial Hall. For tickets and more information, visit sailinc.org.
