SHI camp deadlines approach

Sealaska Heritage Institute’s summer programs are open for registration. The first is Latseen Running Camp, from June 14-17, for Alaska Native students entering 5th – 8th grade. Registration ends May 13. The second is Voices on the Land Summer Theater Intensive, which integrates traditional stories, song and dance, and Tlingit language. Learn storytelling techniques, script writing and the tools of the actor with a culminating performance in Shuká Hit (traditional clan house) in the Walter Soboleff Building. Session one is June 20-25, for Alaska Native students in Juneau entering 4th and 5th grade; the second is June 27-July 2, for Alaska Native students in Juneau entering 6th – 8th grade. The registration deadline is April 30. “Opening the Box: Math and Culture Academy” is July 10-19 for Alaska Native students entering 6th-8th grade; registration closes April 30. Latseen Hoop Camp is Aug. 8-12, for Alaska Native students entering 6th – 12th grade. The deadline to register is Aug. 5.
