Shooting practice league prep for duck season

For the upcoming duck season, the Juneau Gun Club is offering to its members and the general public a four-week shotgun shooting practice league. The league will be conducted from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sundays, Aug. 21 and 28; Sept. 4 and ending Sept. 11 just before the opening of duck season on Juneau’s Mendenhall Wetlands and elsewhere within City and Borough of Juneau’s boundaries.

The league entry will be $20 per participant. There will be 50 rounds of Handicap Trap (trap shooting 20 yards from the trap house for all participants) and 50 rounds of Wobbles Trap (shot 18 yards from behind the trap house for all participants). One shot per target bird is allowed for handicap while Wobbles will allow two shots per target bird. All firing will be from Traps 3 and 4.

Shooting will start as early as 10:15 a.m. on the specified Sundays and will continue until closing. Make-up shoots on JGC open shooting days of Wednesday and Sunday will be permitted until the league closes on Sept. 11.

A participant of the league must score all league firing. The league entree fees will be divided between the league winner, the red lantern winner and a random drawing of the remaining participants within the league.
