Army Pfc. Devin I. Harward has been awarded a command coin by Maj. Gen. Wayne W. Grigsby Jr., 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley commanding general, during a visit to 1st Platoon, Blackfoot Troop, 5-4 Cavalry, 1st Inantry in Jordan.
The military coin is a symbol used by commanders to promote pride, build cohesion, increase morale within a unit and show personal appreciation to service members.
Harward was awarded the distinguished coin as recognition for his continued displays of potential. He was specifically noted to have developed as a driver, displaying the aptitude to learn faster than the average soldier; performs at or above the same level as soldiers with more experience; and he shows a drive to professionally and personally improve himself.
Harward is the son of Christopher Harward of Juneau, Alaska, and Kerri Harward of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
