Spring symphony concert
Join the Juneau Symphony April 16 and 17 for its spring concert, “Peace & Deliverance.” They’ll begin with a familiar favorite, Copland’s Variations on a Shaker Melody. The mystical Prayer of St. Gregory follows, featuring strings and trumpet. The mood will become more somber as they perform the moving Nimrod from Elgar’s Enigma Variations. The second half will feature the Juneau Symphony Chorus joined by acclaimed soloists soprano Michelle Johnson and baritone Steven LaBrie as an immense Juneau Symphony Orchestra is assembled to play Vaughan Williams’ plea for peace, Dona Nobis Pacem. The Saturday, April 16 performance is at 8 p.m.; the Sunday, April 17 performance is at 3 p.m. Both are at Juneau Douglas High School auditorium. A concert conversation will begin one hour before each performance.
This concert is sponsored by Alaska Airlines and Juneau Radio Center.
