Student recognitions: Cummings graduates from Fort Hays, Uchityl makes Northeastern dean’s list

Christopher M. Cummings

Christopher M. Cummings of Juneau graduated from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, in the fall 2016 semester with a Bachelor of Science in information networking and telecommunications (computer networking). Fort Hays State is one of six public universities in the Kansas Board of Regents system.

Carl Uchytil

Juneau resident Carl Uchytil, a Northeastern University student majoring in mechanical engineering, was recently named to the university’s Dean’s List for the fall semester, which ended in December 2016.

To achieve the Dean’s List distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.5 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C- during the course of their college career.

Uchytil is also a member of the University Honors Program, which offers students the chance to further hone their studies and interests, live in special interest on-campus housing and participate in one or two honors courses each term. Invitation into the honors program is highly competitive and students must maintain a high GPA and strong commitment to campus leadership to remain a part.

Nathan Klein

Nathan Klein, a sophomore at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, was recently named to the college’s Dean’s List for the fall semester for excellent academic achievement. Klein majors in biochemistry and molecular biology, and is also a starting pitcher on the varsity baseball team.

To achieve the Dean’s List distinction, students much achieve a GPA of 3.70 or higher, based on 12 graded semester credits. The distinction is recorded on each student’s transcript for the semester.

The dean of the college noted in a letter that making the Dean’s List is an especially noteworthy achievement at Lewis & Clark College and congratulated Klein on his excellent academic record this fall.
