To prevent human disturbances and mortality rates of chicks during nesting season, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is closing four different islands in Glacier Bay from May 1-Aug. 31. This closure prohibits foot traffic and people may only approach the islands as close as 100 yards away.
The closed islands are Sealers Island in Muir Inlet, the southern portion of Leland Island and the island ¼ nautical mile south of Leland, the unnamed island ¼ nautical mile south of Tlingit Point and the unnamed island in Scidmore Bay near the mouth of Charpentier Inlet.
