Thank you for food drive effort

On Saturday, Aug. 19, the Southeast Alaska Food Bank conducted a successful food drive at Super Bear IGA in conjunction with their monthly “Price Smasher Saturday” event. This food drive yielded 683 pounds of canned goods.

On behalf of the Southeast Alaska Food Bank board of directors and our volunteers, we would like to thank Dixie Weiss, Dot Wilson, Jim Wilson, and Ray Rusaw from the Juneau Eastern Star organization, as well as Mukhya Kuar Khalsa, Donna Hurley, and Hari Dev Kalsa from the Mendenhall Lions Club for all their help soliciting donations at the store. We would also like to thank Judy Brown, Garrett Derr, and Janet Lutich for helping to unload these food donations at the food bank.

These donations will allow us to continue our work of providing food to those families and individuals who otherwise might not be able to access food.

Last year, through the efforts of our one employee and our dedicated volunteers, the Southeast Alaska Food Bank provided over 313,000 pounds of food to local food pantries, nonprofits, and members of the community. With the recent expansion of our facility, we are now able to maintain a much larger inventory of food, and we are now even better positioned to serve our community.

The goal of the Southeast Alaska Food Bank is to continue to make a difference in the quality of life for those who need help in providing food for their families in times of need. These donations will help us continue to provide healthy and nutritious food for those in the community who need our assistance. It is sincerely appreciated.
