Thank you for helping us find Ryan

Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to all that responded last week to help search for Ryan.

So many responded and without hesitation.

Please accept our deepest gratitude and know that the efforts by everyone involved helped us tremendously through a very difficult situation.

The Juneau Police Department were the first responders and we thank them for their professionalism and dedication. Specifically Lt. Kriss Sell, Lt. Dave Campbell and all of the officers involved.

University Chancellor Rick Caulfield was also on the scene as a first responder and we thank him for taking the lead to direct his capable faculty and the entire student body in doing everything they could to help.

The Juneau Mobile Incident Command Center was immediately called in and provided an essential center of search operations.

The Command Center volunteers stayed all night and through the next day and were wonderful. Within a very short time around 25 volunteers arrived Wednesday night with flashlights and headed out into the night; we are not sure how they got word but we were very glad to see them all.

The folks at SEADOGS arrived Wednesday night as well and worked past midnight and were back out looking at first light.

There was help from the Juneau Community Patrol group and the Alaska State Troopers.

Staff at DOT set-up road signs.

So many involved and thank you to all.

There was staff from REACH, SAIL, Juneau-Douglas High School and other schools, it seemed like hundreds and we know many took time off from work to help.

The hikers who found Ryan had been aware of his situation through social media that the Juneau Police Department had sent out; we thank them for being aware and helping without hesitation.

Especially thanks to all of the volunteers, friends, neighbors as well as the folks we don’t know.

Our family has always known that Juneau is an outstanding place to live with very special individuals who are willing to do everything they can to help their neighbors during difficult times.

Thank you all for your time and support in helping to find our son and bring him home safely. We will be forever grateful.

Terry, Cindy, Nolan and Ryan Harvey
