Thank you letters for Oct. 20, 2019

Thank you, Merci, Danke.

Thank you to the Juneau Community Foundation

Southeast Senior Services (SESS), a division of Catholic Community Service (CCS), would like to thank the Juneau Community Foundation for granting us $15,000 from the City and Borough of Juneau to provide hot, nutritious meals for local senior citizens. In addition to good nutrition, the meals offer the benefits of human connection, socialization and a daily safety check. This is the fourth year funding has been received and we are thankful the needs of our local seniors are recognized.

With the assistance of the funding received from the City and Borough of Juneau through the Juneau Community Foundation, senior meals were available five days per week throughout the year. From July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019, we provided 12,126 noontime meals at the Juneau and Douglas Senior Centers. The Meals On Wheels volunteers delivered 15,014 complete meals to Juneau’s homebound senior citizens.

All senior citizens, age 60 and over, are encouraged to call the Juneau Senior Center at 463-6175 for more information about the lunch programs and senior center activities. These services help seniors remain healthy and independent for as long as possible.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Juneau Community Foundation and thank the Foundation and the City and Borough of Juneau for their commitment to the seniors of Juneau.

Rachel MacSlarrow,

NTS Regional Coordinator for Southeast Senior Services

Thank you Bartlett

Recently we arrived with Holland America into your beautiful area. Unfortunately my husband’s situation with a compromised infection in his foot necessitated hospitalization. We wanted to compliment Bartlett Regional Hospital and staff on the care and compassion we received during our four-day stay.

We have to rate the experience at 110 percent. I appreciated the use of Bartlett House which I found convenient and comfortable. All the staff were amazing. I firmly believe Dr. Schwarting was responsible for saving my husbands foot. I was also surprised and amazed to receive a follow up call checking on our trip home and my husband’s progress. He has had a necessary surgery in Abbotsford B.C. Hospital and is now recovering.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

John and Mavis Flegal,

Abbotsford, B.C, Canada
