Thank you Stuart brothers

On Father’s Day, Pavitt Health & Fitness hosted a car and motorcycle show in the parking lot. It was a wonderful event. It once again demonstrated how the efforts of a few can bring together diverse groups in a positive and fun fashion. When the maintenance man at the gym, Karl Stuart, suggested having a Father’s Day Hot Rod Show in the parking lot, I had no idea what a great event it would be. But Karl and his brother Michael (who has Stu’s Rod Shop – official event sponsor) did.

As it turns out, there is a strong community of car and motorcycle enthusiasts in Juneau. It was apparent on Father’s day, the comradery they share, along with the pride in their vehicles. For someone like me, who is just glad to have a beater Subaru that runs, it was an eye-opener to realize what a vibrant and diverse group the Juneau car/bike community is — and all the positive ways they contribute to our town.

The Pavitt Health & Fitness Father’s Day Hot Rod Show was also a fundraiser for the Southeast Alaska Food Bank. People donated food, and half the money raised from registration fees and BBQ sales was also given to the food bank. The bulk of the work that made this event possible was done by Karl and Michael Stuart (with a well-deserved nod to Olin Gullufsen). Their efforts brought people together for a good cause and some good healthy fun. Thank you.

general manager,
