We would like to pass on praise, gratitude and acknowledgement to the employees of Bartlett Memorial Hospital and Valley Medical Center. In 2010, our father took a serious fall and over the next few years he was admitted to the hospital several times. With the help of local healthcare professionals at Valley Medical Center and Bartlett Regional Hospital, he was able to overcome and rally back more times than we thought possible.
Our father was a proud man with no quit in him and as he chose to stay in the fight so did the staff of Valley Medical Center and Bartlett Memorial Hospital. As long as Dad was willing to battle on, they continued to provide outstanding care and support. He was always treated with professionalism, competency and patient care of a very high caliber. Despite our dad’s tenacity and will, he passed on Sept 13, 2016, just shy of his 80th birthday.
As many folks know, health challenges of this kind are extremely emotionally, financially and physically taxing on the patient and family members. Medical facilities with competent, knowledgeable staff who take pride in their work and communicate with each other, the family and the patient; demonstrate a day-to-day positive attitude, a sense of humor and a willingness to please; and serve not only the patient but their family are qualities that are necessary for supporting families through trying times. We saw all this and more at Bartlett Memorial Hospital and Valley Medical Center; we also experienced compassion, empathy, genuine caring, and a willingness to go above and beyond.
A special thank you for the invaluable help, advice and support we received from the Bartlett Memorial Hospital caseworkers. A deep appreciation to the nursing staff of Bartlett, and particularly the second floor Med Surg Unit, whose work ethic, energy, dedication, professional compassion and desire to treat us with respect and dignity to the very end of our dad’s life will never be forgotten.
Juneau is fortunate to have people like the outstanding professionals at Valley Medical Center and Bartlett Regional Hospital serving our community. We apologize for the delay in this letter of gratitude; please know our tardiness does not reflect the degree of our deep appreciation.
With gratitude,
The family of Jerred E Jones
