The STEM Camp enrollment has opened

The Science, Technology, Engineering and Math summer camps are back. Hundreds of children participated in the Juneau Economic Development Council’s STEM summer camps last year.

This year there is an array of camp opportunities for children entering grades second through ninth. In these camps children can learn how to build a rocket using 3D design software, or how to build their own underwater robot, or learn how to use LEGO WeDO programming to make LEGO alligators that chomp and monkeys that move. Other camps will teach them how to use Mindstorms software to program LEGO EV3 Robots to complete various challenges or even a camp that partners with NOAA and SAIL that connects middle school students with scientists and experts from NOAA to help explore the world of wind, weather, waves and more through hands-on learning.

These camps are led by experienced staff dedicated to ensuring that the camp experience is safe and fun with tons of opportunities to explore and learn.

The Juneau Economic Development Council has been producing STEM summer camps for over five years. The guiding objective of JEDC’s STEM initiative is to increase student interest and competencies in STEM fields. STEM literacy is crucial because it has a profound and growing impact on our day to day lives.

STEM summer camps will run from end of May to August. To sign up and view the various camp opportunities visit http://www.jedc.org/stemak/summerprograms or call Courtney Weiss at (907) 523-2329 or email cweiss@jedc.org.
