KETCHIKAN — The Ranger Districts for the Tongass National Forest are switching their mailing list from snail mail to email.
A Tuesday press release from the U.S. Forest Service said the move is to “better serve the public, reduce printing and mailing costs, and reduce the Forest’s environmental impacts.”
The Forest Service uses the mailing lists to send out information, newsletters, notices and documents on National Environmental Policy Act projects happening in and around the Tongass.
To sign up for the email listserv, go to this website:http://bit.ly/260MDUG and enter your email address. An email will be sent out with instructions that walk people through the process to get on current and future project mailing lists that they are interested in.
If people want to learn about future projects and are unable to do so via email, they can still sign up for postal mail. Call Michelle at 747-4278 to sign up for postal mail or with questions about the electronic system.
