Third Annual Platypus-Con last weekend of January
Platypus Gaming, a local non-profit, is running the third annual Platypus-Con: Board and Card Game Extravaganza. Platypus-Con is a convention with a large game lending library, scheduled games to teach to participants, chances to win the games you play, tournaments and other events. Platypus-Con is designed to help people new to board games learn and have fun with the hobby while providing newer games for experienced players.
Platypus-Con has a lending library of over 1,200 board and card games for participants to check out and play at the convention. Participants borrowing select games will be entered to win a copy just by giving it a try. War games, Magic: the Gathering and role-playing games will also be featured for people seeking an introduction to those types of games. There will be four tournaments over the weekend with prizes for each. Rhino Hero on Friday, Schotten Totten and Dimension will be the games for the Saturday tournaments and Settlers of Catan will be the game for the Sunday Tournament. The first 150 attendees will also receive a commemorative Platypus-con die.
