UWSEAK and FamilyWize save community money on prescriptions

In Juneau, 846 community members have saved $149,089 on prescription medications through the partnership between United Way of Southeast Alaska and FamilyWize. The results were revealed in the annual health impact report, a compendium of data reflecting the health and financial support offered by United Way and FamilyWize in its joint community initiatives across the country.

“All too often we see families struggling to stay healthy due to the high cost of their prescription medications,” said President and CEO of UWSEAK Wayne Stevens in a press release. “Partnering with FamilyWize has allowed us to offer new, free resources to our community members for managing their finances and improving their families’ quality of life. It’s encouraging to see the true impact our partnership has had and we look forward to supporting more families.”

The FamilyWize program is free, accepted at more than 60,000 pharmacies nationwide, covers all FDA approved prescription medications and has no eligibility requirements. To sign up for the program, visit familywize.org, download the Android or Apple app or print out the card. The card is also available at the United Way of Southeast Alaska offices and online at unitedwayseak.org/activities/familywize.
