Who’s Your Diva: Week 1

Juneau Lyric Opera’s fifth production of the popular “Who’s Your Diva,” a singing competition and fundraiser showcasing Juneau’s diva talent, is coming up Sept. 24 at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center. The Capital City Weekly will run Juneau Lyric Opera’s question and answer sessions with this year’s ten divas leading up to the event.

First up are Jocelyn Miles and Britany McKibben.

Competitors to be named this year’s official Diva are Libby Bakalar (http://igfn.us/vf/DivaLibby); Wendy Byrnes (http://igfn.us/vf/DivaWendy); Abigail Hoy (http://igfn.us/vf/DivaAbigail); Katrina Lee (http://igfn.us/vf/DivaKatrina); Britany McKibben (http://igfn.us/vf/DivaBritany); Jocelyn Miles (http://igfn.us/vf/DivaJocelyn); Celia Montalto (http://igfn.us/vf/DivaCelia); Anneka Morgan (http://igfn.us/vf/DivaAnneka); Missouri Smyth (http://igfn.us/vf/DivaMissouri); and Jessica Snyder (http://igfn.us/vf/DivaJessie).

During the competition, as in previous years, each competitor will perform two songs, and then community members will vote for their choice. Votes, which are made in the form of monetary contributions (one dollar is one vote), can be made in advance by visiting individual Diva web pages or texting Diva keywords to 71777, all of which can be online at juneauopera.org. All proceeds benefit JLO. Tickets for the event went on sale Aug. 15 at the JACC, Hearthside Books and juneauopera.org.
