ANCHORAGE — Alaska State Troopers said a traffic crash on a remote Aleutian island killed three people in a van.
Troopers said the van was carrying nine passengers and a driver in the village of Atka when it crashed. Initial reports indicated only nine people were in the van.
Several others were injured. They were transported to Adak on a nearby island and were to be flown Wednesday to Anchorage.
Names of the dead have not been released.
Troopers took a call on the crash just after 6 p.m.
Investigators planned to fly to the island Wednesday but were hampered by bad weather.
Atka is a fishing village of 68 people located 1,200 miles southwest of Anchorage and 350 miles west of Unalaska.
