ANCHORAGE — A 36-year-old inmate has been found dead at the Anchorage Correctional Complex.
Department of Corrections officials said in a news release that Brian Pinkerton was found dead just before 7 a.m. Thursday.
He had a full medical examination on Wednesday that didn’t indicate anything bad. An autopsy will be conducted, but officials said preliminary reports didn’t indicate any signs of physical trauma.
The release said he had spent time in a specialized medical unit but was allowed to return to the prison’s general population.
Pinkerton has been in jail since Jan. 8 on multiple probation violations.
He’s the fourth inmate to die in custody this year. All prisoner deaths are reviewed by Alaska State Troopers and the State Medical Examiner’s Office. The corrections department will also conduct an internal review.
