7 injured in 3-car accident

Seven people were taken to the hospital following a three-car accident Saturday in the Mendenhall Valley.

According to police, Jana Pierce was cited for failing to maintain a safe distance after the 2006 Nissan Armada she was driving struck a stationary vehicle on Mendenhall Loop Road around 11 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle Pierce struck was behind another vehicle waiting to turn left onto Taku Boulevard.

The combined damage of the vehicles was estimated to be $15,000, and all three were towed from the scene. The seven people injured were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
