911 service out for some Verizon customers, JPD says call business line at (907) 500-0600 if necessary

Some Verizon mobile phone customers had connectivity issues when trying to call 911 starting Saturday afternoon, according to the the Juneau Police Department.

“Verizon is currently working to restore full service, but the timeline for full restoration is unknown,” JPD announced in a statement that afternoon. “Verizon based customers can still dial 911 in some instances, however, to ensure your phone call gets through to a Public Safety Dispatcher, please use JPD’s business line.”

A subsequent statement released Monday afternoon by JPD declared the problem was resolved.
